How I got here

When I studied Fine Art Printmaking at Falmouth (graduating in 2007 with a 2:1) I emerged from a blissful 4 years of making art by the sea, thinking I needed to see the world and get some real experience of how things worked. So, I moved to Melbourne and got an (unpaid) internship at a commercial gallery. After a few weeks, they offered me a full time job, and I was hired as the Gallery Manager.

My rationale (at the age of 22) was that if I could get to know the business side of ‘being an artist’, that would help me in the future. 15 years on, I have seen all aspects of the art world (the good, the bad, the ugly, the wonderful, the bizarre).

I have worked for galleries in Cambridge, Melbourne, London and Cornwall, learning the ropes at some of the best organisations including : Anna Pappas Gallery, Melbourne, The ICA, Parasol Unit Foundation for Contemporary Art & Mall Galleries, London and most recently Anima Mundi in St Ives, Cornwall.

I have worked with inspiring Directors, curators, colleagues and patrons, helping to create exhibitions from the initial seed of an idea all the way through to the opening night - and beyond in the form of artist books, monographs, catalogues, digital archives and websites.

What now ?

In 2014 I moved to Cornwall.

As soon as I settled in to my new life, I started meeting people who needed help with various creative events and projects. There were loads of brilliant things going on around me, and initially I set about doing some ACE fundraising for an ambitious light + sound installation at The Eden Project

During this time I worked with John O’Carroll at Circle Contemporary, and he introduced me to lots of local artists, makers and crafts-people, many of whom also needed a helping hand.

The overwhelming response when I asked ‘how can I help?’ seemed to be that they needed more time. They all spent too many hours each day trying to tick things off their long ‘to-do list’ so they didn’t have time to make any art - and a vicious cycle of frustration emerged.

I offered my services, taking on the tasks that they didn’t need to deal with, lightening the load and releasing precious time, which is usually well spent in the studio.

Today, I am extremely proud to support a host of incredible artists + art organisations working in Cornwall and beyond. Hopefully I can help you too.
